Movie Review: The Golden Compass

Well, the holiday movie season kicks off with The Golden Compass, a high-octane, high-controversy fantasy film starring Dakota Blue Richards, Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, based on the first volume of British novelist Philip Pullman’s trilogy His Dark Materials.

Moviegoers now have two questions:  1) Is this movie any good?  and 2) How close does it adhere to the alleged anti-Christian message of Philip Pullman’s novel?  William Alan Ritch, who provided a review of the original book over at scifidimensions.com, has seen the film and offers his analysis.
