Today American Freethought is one year old. Whee!
On September 23, 2007 the URL was registered, and on the next day the first entry went online. Two months later (November 24) the American Freethought Podcast debuted; now it’s one of the most popular freethought podcasts in the world (consistently ranking in the top five in our category on iTunes).
Over the course of a year, we’ve posted over 100 entries and interviewed many rationally-minded luminaries, including biologist/blogger PZ Myers, lobbyist Lori Lipman Brown, documentary filmmaker Randy Olson, singer/songwriter Susan Werner, biologist/science-booster Massimo Pigliucci, president of the Secular Coalition of America Herb Silverman, president of American Atheists Ed Buckner, anti-creationism activist Barbara Forrest, et al.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed or commented, and especially to wifey Allison and podcast co-host David Driscoll.
Forward into Year Two. As the hashers say, “On, on!”
Congratulations! Looking forward to another year of insightful commentary.
I’m glad I found you guys (and just recently, too). Besides looking forward to each new podcast, I’ve started to go through the ones from the past year. Unlike the CEO of Lehman Brothers – who received over $350m in compensation the last five years for driving his company into the ground – you guys are worth MUCH MORE than we pay you (!!!).
The year has flown by! It has been great working with John and the positive comments make me feel like we are making a difference. Stay tuned!
You’re welcome, and congratulations! I couldn’t be prouder. XO
Congratulations! I have enjoyed listening to the show the past few months. I hope it continues on for quite a while yet.
