I recently had occasion to look through some old issues of OMNI (the magazine of science fiction and science fact), which ran from 1977 to 1995. OMNI was a fantastic publication, mixing short fiction with cutting-edge science reporting and skeptical analysis of paranormal phenomena. I came across a wonderful article from May 1984 by James Gorman called “Righteous Stuff,” which explores why so many of the Apollo astronauts had profound spiritual experiences – not so much during their missions, but as a result of them.
This article is a little long for a single day’s reading, so I’m dividing it into two consecutive portions. Hopefully, these scans aren’t too much of a strain on the eye – I tried to balance readability with image size. Enjoy!
