Podcast #56 – Tim Farley (WhatstheHarm.net)

We interview Tim Farley, creator of the website WhatstheHarm.net (an invaluable database of death and destruction caused by alternative medicine, superstition, lack of critical thinking, etc.).  Tim has also given talks and organized seminars to teach skeptics how to be better communicators–check out Skeptical Software Tools.

Look for Tim at Dragon*Con in September, but first! he’ll be seminarifying at The Amazing Meeting, July 9-12 in Las Vegas (yes…Nevada).

Father’s Day is this Sunday (June 21st)!  That means a very special patriarchal installment of Holey Scripture.  Hide the children.

More great listener feedback!  Also mentioned on the ‘cast are two books and on DVD that shed light on the thorny ethical considerations surrounding abortion and the theological problem of suffering:

One Response to Podcast #56 – Tim Farley (WhatstheHarm.net)

  1. I Am says:

Very interesting episode, as usual. I was unaware of whatstheharm.net, but it looks like a very good resource.

I’m also glad there was another “Holey Scripture” segment on this show. This is usually one of my favorite parts of the podcast, and I am glad to see it making a comeback.

I also particularly liked the “Sex with Ducks” bonus song at the end. I started listening to your podcast originally for freethought/atheist news, but I’m finding out almost as much new music as news! I now love Susan Werner and Roy Zimmerman, both of whom I didn’t know about until I listened to your show. This new song is great as well. Maybe you can have Garfunkel and Oates on a future show?!

Thanks again for all your work.
