I highly disagree with the reasons a woman would be wearing a burqini, it’s sexist to think that women have to be more covered up than men, and you’re right that the “recommendation” isn’t one: the Quran is very clear that women must not show themselves in public, it’s interpretation that differs.

But I’m not sure how they could ban the burqini if they allow full-body wetsuits. It’s a very frustrating issue. Why would a woman in France choose to wear a burqa or a burqini? Even if one woman chooses to do so, what’s saying another woman won’t be forced by her husband after seeing other woman doing it? I think it will only lead to women being forced to wearing them down the line.
