Finally, some good news in this bad economy

Associated Press reports that James Dobson’s Focus Crosshairs on the Family is “facing a serious budget shortfall.”  Unfortunately, the hapless schlubs who give Dobson money will probably get talked into throwing more cash his way to bail him out.  <sigh>

Apparently they’ve lost a load of dough on an ill-conceived program to “fix” homosexuals, and they’ve run up on the reality that human sexuality is natural, congenital, multivariate and not easily manipulated.  The people I’m really sorry for are the gays and lesbians who live in misery trying–unsuccessfully–to reconcile their deep-seated sexual desires with the ignorant, outdated Biblical baloney that tells them they’re in league with Satan.

Here’s the AP report:

Focus on the Family has ‘serious’ budget shortfall

Tue Aug 11, 8:56 pm ET

DENVER – Conservative Christian group Focus on the Family says it is facing a “serious budget shortfall.”

Jim Daly, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based evangelical ministry, explains in a letter to approximately 800,000 donors that projected income for the year is $6 million short of expectations.

The organization’s fiscal year budget is $138 million.

Focus on the Family also says it will no longer stage “Love Won Out” conferences, which promise to “help men and women dissatisfied with living homosexually understand that same-sex attractions can be overcome.”

The events will go on, instead staged by Orlando, Fla.-based Exodus International.
