		<description>The last figure I heard for deaths attributable to the divining-rod bomb detectors is at least 350, as there were two major attacks -- 150 and 200 dead -- that involved car bombs that went through checkpoints.

I&#039;ve heard -- though I&#039;ve not seen this confirmed -- that the Iraqis like these because they *don&#039;t* like using the most effective bomb detectors out there: dogs. Unclean, you know.

My suggestion for the Iraqi general who praises these things is that we do the following test: we lock him in a garage with ten cars, one of which has a time bomb in the trunk with a two minute fuse. If he picks the right car, we let him out. 

Repeat 10 times for statistical significance.</description>
