Podcast #90 – Massimo Pigliucci (Nonsense on Stilts)

We interview Dr. Massimo Pigliucci, evolutionary biologist, philosopher, science crusader, and author of Nonsense on Stilts: How to Tell Science from Bunk.  This new book explores the frontier between science and pseudoscience, the difficulty of defining exactly what is science (what Karl Popper dubbed “the demarcation problem”), and the attacks against science from the forces of anti-intellectualism and even from inside academia.  Highly recommended.

Visit Dr. P on the web at RationallySpeaking.org, or listen to his new podcast–co-hosted with NYC Skeptics’ Julia Galeth–at RationallySpeakingPodcast.org.

  1. Eddie says:

First time listening to your podcast… “Moses and Monotheism”, “Future of an Illusion” and “Why I’m Not a Christian” did it for me… but back then there were only angry atheists (I remember Murray-O’Hare’s “Dial *the* Atheist” and skeptics in the Mencken-sonian tradition. – - Your interview style as well as Massimo Paggliucci’s discourse approach is refreshing and engaging. It makes me think, even as a member of the choir, yet invites cconversation from those who don’t agree. Will be reading both the book as well as listening to your podcast (ir)RELIGIOUSLY from now on… Fantastic work !

  2. Thanks, Eddie–we’re glad you enjoy the show.
