KY to provide tax breaks for Creationist museum

Remember Ken Ham’s Creation Museum?  It’s going gangbusters; so much so that they announced a dramatic expansion into the theme park business.  “Ark Encounter” will include “the ark, live animals, event venues and a children’s play area, among other things.”

I’m all for freedom of speech and freedom of expression, but I think the Commonwealth of Kentucky goes too far in offering $37 million in tax breaks to what is obviously intended as a religious indoctrination center.  Governor Steve Beshear touts the move as a way to bring jobs to the state: “The people of Kentucky didn’t elect me governor to debate religion… They elected me governor to create jobs.”  One wonders if the Guv would be so eager to offer $37 million to create jobs in a real science museum, never mind a Jewish, or Hindu, or Muslim-themed museum.

I smell lawsuit.
