Allah, Liberty and Love

Here’s my next blog-a-book project.  Starting June 14th, I’ll be blogging my thoughts chapter-by-chapter on Irshad Manji’s Allah, Liberty and Love: The Courage to Reconcile Faith and Freedom.  Manji is the author of the highly influential The Trouble with Islam Today, one of the rare nonfiction books I read a second time immediately after finishing it the first time.  Manji is an outspoken activist within the global Islamic community, arguing for reform of her religion.  It’s a daunting project, one that has resulted in numerous death threats against Ms. Manji.

While Manji describes herself as a Muslim believer, I nonetheless consider her a fellow traveler, since she speaks out for love and tolerance, and against bigotry and violence.  So…if you’d like to join me in reading this book, it’s available in hardcover and for Kindle. Meanwhile, for more about Irshad Manji, visit her official website at IrshadManji.com.
