November 14 in freethought history…

jmrobertsonNovember 14, 1856 – Scottish rationalist/secularist John Mackinnon Robertson is born on the Isle of Arran. A prolific journalist and writer, he was a Member of Parliament in the UK from 1906-1918. For a time he was a prominent member of London’s South Place Ethical Society (now Conway Hall Ethical Society), thought to be the oldest surviving freethought organization in the world. Robertson died in 1933, aged 76.
