steveallenDecember 26, 1921 – American entertainer and TV personality Steve Allen is born Stephen Valentine Patrick William Allen in New York City. He was the first host of the longrunning Tonight Show on NBC, among numerous other accomplishments. Allen was a secular humanist, and a member of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP, now the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry) and the Council for Secular Humanism. His many books include two titles on “the Bible, Religion & Morality.” Allen died in 2000, aged 78.
