johnwesleyMarch 2, 1791 – Anglican minister and theologian John Wesley dies in London, England, aged 87. A tireless traveling preacher, Wesley was deeply influential in what would become the Christian evangelical movement, and his teachings led to the creation of what is now the United Methodist Church.  An interesting bit of trivia: Wesley’s was the first documented use of the phrase “agree to disagree,” referring to mutual toleration of differing viewpoints, usually in the service of some greater good.
