April 2, 1917 – Businessman and philanthropist Lloyd Morain, who served two terms (1951-1955, 1969-1972) as President of the American Humanist Association, is born in Pomona, California. With his wife Mary Morain, he was active in humanist and birth control causes. The Morains were jointly named Humanists of the Year in 1994 by the AHA. Morain died in 2010, aged 93.
