April 4 in freethought history…

davidcrossApril 4, 1964 – Comedian David Cross is born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is well-known for his stand-up comedy and as co-creator (with Bob Odenkirk) of the groundbreaking sketch comedy series Mr. Show. Although raised Jewish, Cross identifies himself as an atheist and has been an outspoken critic of anti-gay/racist humor and American anti-intellectualism in general. In defending his critique of religion, Cross has said, “I’d like to think that I’m not just making the point that I’m an atheist over and over…but that I explore different facets of religion. I talk about Mormonism, Scientology, Judaism, Catholicism, and Christianity. I don’t think people realize how intrusive religion is.”
