madalymurrayohairApril 20, 1884 – The Roman Catholic Church issues Humanum Genus Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII on Freemasonry, condeming Freemasonry, public (secular) education, the equal rights of man, and democracy.

April 20, 1986 – Madalyn Murray O’Hair steps down as president of American Atheists. Her son Jon Garth Murray assumed the position, but O’Hair remained the power behind the throne until their deaths in 1995.
