Thanks to Abrupt Media for the recording. Click here for more pictures from the event.
If you’re really into trivia, John will be doing ANOTHER Trivia Challenge this Saturday (July 16th) for the Atlanta Skeptics, 7PM at Manuel’s Tavern. There will be prizes. You’ll need to RSVP at the Atlanta Skeptics Meetup page. See you there!
Also:
Listener feedback! A teacher in Switzerland gets fired for challenging the intermingling of church and state (see also the Freethinkers Association of Switzerland), and a listener thinks we’re not skeptical enough about Bill Maher’s opinions on “agribusiness.”
ANNOUNCEMENTS
David Driscoll’s Secular World podcast (formerly Secular Nation podcast) continues.
John and Allison will be attending the Tim Minchin concert at Atlanta’s Center Stage, Thursday, July 14th, along with several other members of the local skeptic and freethought communities.

Salman Taseer, the governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province, has been assassinated by one of his bodyguards for his open criticism of the country’s draconian blasphemy laws. Taseer had been speaking out on behalf of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet Mohammed. With allies like these, who needs enemies?
On a less serious note, and closer to home, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled the Mount Soledad Cross unconstitutional. If you’re not familiar with it, this is a 29-foot-tall concrete monument that has been transformed into a “war memorial,” with advocates claiming that the cross is a universal symbol honoring fallen soldiers, and not inherently a religious symbol. Go figure.
Plus: The Holey Scripture! We continue our exploration of the psychedelic creepiness that is the Book of Revelation.
Announcements:

Plus: What it’s like inside a fundamentalist cult; churches and taxes Down Under; the intersection between porn and mainstream cinema; and a surprise email from someone we talked about in a recent podcast.
(Sound clips at the top and bottom of the show are from the animated not-for-kids movie Mary & Max. Definitely worth checking out!)

Crazy Christmas: Pope Ratzinger gets jumped by a wingnut at Christmas Mass, and another Muslim whackjob tries to blow up an airplane (last time it was shoes; this time it’s underpants).
Congratulations, Mississippi! You lead the nation in religiosity. And poverty. And teen pregnancy. And poor health. And federal support. Coincidence, cause or correlation? Oh, and check out this bonus graphic showing the correlation between Southern Baptism and teen pregnancy.
